The Enigma Model D is the most common commercial version of the Enigma. The Model D was developed in 1926. It succeded to the C Model developed in 1924. The Model D was used by several companies and armies, among them, the Italian Navy and the Swiss Army.
The main difference with the German military model is the absence of the Plugboard.
