Introduction
You can test your understanding of the Kryha and its cryptanalysis
by trying to solve my challenges.
I have created two sets of challenges, one for each version of the
machine.
Kryha v1
Note: The standard wheel is used for the first five problems.
-
1 – You know the entire key. This problem allows you to test your
simulator or your understanding of how to use the machine itself.
-
2 – You know almost the entire key. You don't know the starting
sector or the initial position of the inner wheel.
-
3 – The key is unknown, only the beginning of the message.
-
4 – You have a ciphertext and its plaintext translation. You must
decrypt another ciphertext using the same key.
-
5 – We know nothing, but the standard wheel is used.
-
6 – We know nothing, including the wheel used.
-
7 – We have several in-depth cryptograms.
Kryha v2
-
1 – You know the entire key. This problem allowed you to test
your simulator or your understanding of how to use the machine itself.
-
2 – Part of the key is provided: the location of the holes and the
passphrase used to generate the internal alphabet.
-
3 – We only know the position of the holes.
-
4 – We know the number of sectors and the beginning of the message.
-
5 – Same, but the beginning of the message is very short.
-
6 – We know the beginning of the message.
-
7 – We have in-depth messages.
-
8 – We have a very short cryptogram and a probable word.
-
9 – We know nothing about the key, but the cryptogram is long.
